Cairo, The 11th meeting of the committee to facilitate inter-trade under the Greater Arab Free Trade Area Agreement (GAFTA) started today at the headquarters of the Arab League Secretariat General, under the chairmanship of the Director of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Department at the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry Mohammed Al-Shahat.
The delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was headed by Advisor to the Governor of Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority Abdulaziz Al-Romi.
Director of Economic Integration at the Arab League Dr. Bahgat Abu Al-Nasr said, in a statement following the meeting, that upon a decision by the Economic and Social Council, an appendix to facilitate trade was made so that GAFTA matches with other areas in the world, including WTO contents.
The 11th meeting is set to discuss, over three days, the memorandum of the Arab League Secretariat General regarding a revision of the initial draft of the appendix to facilitate trade within GAFTA.
