Niamey: At least 16 Nigerien soldiers were killed and 23 others injured in a terrorist attack targeting a detachment of the country's Defence and Security Forces in the Tera area in western Niger, the Nigerien Press Agency reported.
According to Emirates News Agency, fifteen terrorists were killed in the counterattack, with five motorcycles recovered and four destroyed, as reported from a statement by the Nigerien Ministry of Defence. The ministry highlighted the swift response of the Defence and Security Forces, which were supported by aerial assets, compelling the attackers to retreat.
The statement further noted that search, sweep, and security operations are ongoing in the area to ensure stability and safety following the attack.
