2 Officers Injured in Armed Attack in Ankara

Two Turkish police officers were injured Sunday after two gunmen carried out a bomb attack in front of the General Directorate of Security in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that two gunmen arrived in a light commercial vehicle in front of the gate of the General Directorate of Security, carried out a bomb attack. One of the attackers blew himself up while the other one was killed.

Yerlikaya added that two police officers were slightly injured in the attack.

Following the explosion, police forces took increased security around the area, and the main Ataturk Boulevard was closed to traffic, Turkey’s Anadolu Agency reported.

Special operations police also were dispatched to the scene. (QNA)
