Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Omid Nouripour, Vice-President of the German Bundestag, to discuss regional developments and the trajectory of cooperation between the UAE and Germany.
According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions included the repercussions of recent Iranian missile attacks on the UAE and other regional nations. These unprovoked attacks have raised concerns about their impact on regional and international security, energy supplies, maritime security, and the global economy. Nouripour reaffirmed Germany's solidarity with the UAE, emphasizing the need for measures to protect its sovereignty and the safety of its citizens, residents, and visitors.
H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed his appreciation for Nouripour's visit, highlighting that it exemplifies the strong bilateral relations between the UAE and Germany. He noted the full solidarity shown by Germany in response to the Iranian aggression.
The meeting also touched upon the recent announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding a ceasefire between the United States and Iran. Both leaders discussed the importance of strengthening regional and international efforts to achieve sustainable peace and reinforce security and stability for the benefit of regional populations.
Furthermore, the two sides explored ways to enhance UAE-Germany cooperation across various fields. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the critical role parliaments play in supporting political and diplomatic solutions to crises, promoting dialogue and mutual understanding, and fostering peace and sustainable development at regional and international levels.
