Abu Dhabi:The Abu Dhabi Declaration, adopted at the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, provides a five-year plan to enhance efforts against financial crime, as stated by Judge Hatem Ali, UNODC Regional Representative for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Region.
According to Emirates News Agency, Judge Ali highlighted that one of the key outcomes of the Congress is the dedication to bolstering the capacities of individuals and communities to assist governments, law enforcement, and criminal justice authorities in crime prevention and combat, using means such as community engagement and social media.
The Declaration also outlines a plan to intensify measures against money laundering, terrorist financing, and emerging financial crimes, particularly those related to artificial intelligence and cyber technologies.
