Ahmed bin Saud attends DP World Tour’s Ras Al Khaimah Championship finale, crowns Thorbjørn Olesen as winner


RAS AL KHAIMAH: Sheikh Ahmed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah’s Public Services Department, attended the final day of the DP World Tour’s Ras Al Khaimah Championship at Al Hamra Golf Club to present the trophy to Thorbjørn Olesen of Denmark, after four days of golf from the world’s top professionals.

Sheikh Ahmed met the event organisers, DP World Tour, along with the players and sponsors, as he watched the last action on the 18th hole of the immaculate Championship golf course, which witnessed intense competition from some of the world’s best golfers, cheered on by enthusiastic crowds of fans throughout the competition.

Sheikh Ahmed said, ‘Sport has an intrinsic ability to unite the peoples of the world in joy at the splendour of achievement, and it inspires others to reach for their personal goals. That is why Ras Al Khaimah is keen to continue hosting major sporting events; to encourage, to inspire and to challenge our people to pursue greatness.

The Ras Al Khaimah Championship, in its third year, is one of five DP World Tour events to be staged in the UAE in 2024, which help enhance the status of golf in the country, attracting the game’s biggest players and golf enthusiasts from all over the world.
