Ajman: Al Safia Park and Ajman Chamber Park have been awarded the Green Flag Award for 2024-2025. This achievement is a result of the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department's commitment to implementing top international practices in the realm of green spaces.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Khaled Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector at the Department, attributed the award to the parks' adherence to international standards for environmental sustainability. The parks serve the community by providing accessible spaces with facilities for People of Determination and are lauded for their aesthetics, including afforestation, gardening, and cleanliness. The parks also prioritize visitor safety and host recreational events and programs.
Dr. Al Hosani emphasized the improvements made to enhance the environmental and social performance of institutions and projects in the Emirate. The urban plan includes future projects aimed at achieving environmental sustainability and adapting to global standards while considering climate conditions and community needs.
Ahmed Saif Al Muhairi, Director of the Agriculture and Public Parks Department, highlighted that this accolade extends the department's efforts to qualify the city's facilities for global classification. He expressed the department's determination to expand the number of parks participating in the award, ensuring they meet its standards.
Al Muhairi also noted the ambitious efforts to upgrade the Emirate's parks to be welcoming, environmentally friendly, and safe spaces that encourage community participation. This contributes to the Emirate's vision of offering a sustainable environment and modern infrastructure.
This year, the department entered two parks into the award, both meeting the criteria that encourage the development of high-quality public parks managed sustainably. The Green Flag Award program aims to enhance the standards of parks and green spaces, thereby boosting public confidence.
Previously, Flag Park, Jadat Al Ezz Park, and Ghabat Al Regayeb Park in Ajman received the Green Flag Award in 2023, and now Al Safia Park and Ajman Chamber Park have continued the tradition by securing the 2024 award.
