Al-Quds Empowerment Fund lauds Jordan’s role in protecting Jerusalem

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Al-Quds Empowerment Fund (AEF), His Highness Prince Turki Al-Faisal, on Tuesday stressed the importance of Jordan’s role, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, in protecting the city of Jerusalem and defending it against the plans and practices of the Israeli occupation authorities.

Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC) hosted a meeting of the fund, which falls under the umbrella of the Islamic Development Bank, as its member, to review and implement some of the fund’s Jerusalem-related projects and present the activities of Jerusalem Empowerment and Sustainability program.

During the meeting, Prince Al-Faisal said Jerusalem deserves support from all to empower its people and strengthen their steadfastness on their land to face the occupation’s attempts to erase its Arab and Islamic identity, stressing the need to expedite implementation of the city’s projects, which the fund is working to carry out.

Meanwhile, the JCC head, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, noted Jordan has a “historical s
pecial” status towards Jerusalem, based on the Hashemite custodianship over its holy sites, indicating that action to serve the city is an honor for all.

Haj Tawfiq also referred to the King’s honorable positions in defending Jerusalem and providing all possible support for its people’s steadfastness on their land, preserving it in light of Judaizing operations, and protecting Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Haj Tawfiq valued the fund’s noble role to empower Jerusalem and its efforts to support the Palestinian people to alleviate their daily suffering due to the Israeli practices by establishing development projects, programs and basic services in the holy city.

Established in 2021, the fund’s Board of Trustees includes 15 members from Jordan, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Tunisia and Egypt.
