An Egyptian journalist: Iraq seeks to restore its leading role in the region through these axes

Baghdad, The editor-in-chief of the Egyptian Al-Jumhuriya newspaper, Abdel-Razek Tawfiq Abu Zaid, affirmed: “Iraq seeks to restore its leading role in the region and the Arab world through a set of axes.”

Abu Zaid, a member of the Egyptian media delegation, who recently visited the capital, Baghdad, at the official invitation of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, said in a statement to the Iraqi National News Agency (NINA): “The Egyptians are interested in the security and stability of Iraq, and they count on it as an important pillar, next to Egypt, for the strength of the Arab nation, in the historically rooted Egyptian-Iraqi relations and the commonalities between the two brotherly peoples continued.

He added, “President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi is absolutely supportive of Iraq, because he is aware of the importance of this country to Egypt, the Arab world and the region,” noting that “the new Iraq has a package of internal and external determinants, including the project of consolidating security, stability and unity under the Iraqi national identity, and upholding the status of the state of citizenship.”

He went on to say, “Iraq is proceeding on the path of consolidating security, stability, construction and development, and there is a continuous pace of work that confirms the crystallization of a project to build a new Iraq, as well as caring for citizens , providing them with a decent life and providing the necessary services,” stressing that “Iraq and Egypt have large projects, capabilities and important opportunities that can be invested, whether in terms of bilateral relations or the mechanism of joint tripartite cooperation with Jordan as well .

Abu Zaid pointed out: “Iraq wants to restore its leading role in the Arab and regional region, based on the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, achieving economic integration with all countries in the region, and joint cooperation that provides security and stability for further construction and reconstruction.”
