Cairo: The Arab League Wednesday condemned the Israeli Knesset's decision to classify the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as a terrorist organisation. The Secretary-General of the pan-Arab organisation, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said the decision is a form of "absurdity and political bankruptcy," adding that it represents an "insult to humanitarian and human rights work at the international level." The official spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Jamal Rushdi, said Aboul Gheit considered that the decision targets the legitimacy of UNRWA and its international reputation. Rushdi added that it is part of a "systematic campaign launched by the occupation" to undermine the role of the UN agency that works to serve refugees. He added that the decision reveals the state of extreme isolation experienced by Israeli politicians and "reflects their vision devoid of any human or values ??dimension." Source: Jordan News Agency
