Arab League Denounces Israel’s E1 Settlement Plan

Cairo: The League of Arab States has issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli government's approval of a settlement plan in the E1 area east of Jerusalem. The League emphasized that the plan poses a significant threat to the prospects of achieving a two-state solution and establishing a contiguous Palestinian state.

According to Emirates News Agency, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, stated that the settlement project would divide the West Bank and disrupt the territorial continuity of a future Palestinian state. He described the plan as part of a long-standing ambition of the Israeli right to obstruct the creation of a Palestinian state.

Aboul Gheit urged the international community to take action against this settlement project, underscoring the importance of safeguarding the two-state solution. He highlighted that failure to address this issue could lead to continued violence and instability in the region.

He further stressed that Israel's approval of the plan highlights the expansionist tendencies of the current ruling group, which, according to him, threatens peace and stability in the region.
