CAIRO: Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit has welcomed the Advisory Opinion of 19th July 2024 issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding the unlawful presence of the State of Israel in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, i.e. Palestinian territory occupied since 1967 encompassing the West Bank, East Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip. In a statement today, Aboul Gheit said that the ICJ's advisory opinion constitutes a key legal pillar in supporting the Palestinian narrative and boosting its legitimacy and credibility. He explained that this ruling helps counter the Israeli occupation's attempts to blur the lines around the nature and origin of the conflict to tighten its grip on the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
