Bahrain on Thursday made a historic win against Australia (1-0) in the match of the third round of Asian qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The Bahrainis snatched the victory when the player Abdullah Al-Khlasi sent the ball from the left side, hitting an Australian defender, Harry Souttar, and proceeding into the net. Bahrain reached this stage after qualifying as the second ranking team in the 8th group, behind the UAE. Australia had qualified after leading the 9th group. Source: Kuwait News Agency
