Belarus book their place in UAE 2024 semi-finals after beating Portugal 4-3

DUBAI: Belarus staged a thrilling comeback, inspired by a hat-trick hero Ihar Bryshtsel, to defeat Portugal 4-3 and book their place in the UAE 2024 Dubai beach soccer semi-finals.

The Seleção das Quinas looked to be cruising after Duarte Algarvio’s stunning first-half volley, but Bryshtsel had other plans. He unleashed a thunderous volley of his own just after the restart, leaving the net rippling.

Channeling his magic from the Colombia game, Bryshtsel completed his hat-trick with a pinpoint free-kick and a penalty, putting Belarus firmly in control. However, Portugal refused to surrender, with Jordan and Bernardo Lopes forcing extra time.

Just as the clock seemed destined to tick down to penalties, Bryshtsel emerged as the hero once more, bundling home a dramatic winner with seconds to spare. His heroics ensured Belarus’ first-ever World Cup semi-final appearance, where they will face the winner of Italy vs. Tahiti.
