Dubai: At least seven people were killed and 20 others injured when a bus carrying university students and faculty plunged off a highway in southern Brazil. The tragic incident occurred on state highway RSC-453 in the town of Imigrante, located in Rio Grande do Sul, near the borders with Argentina and Uruguay.
According to Emirates News Agency, the bus was transporting students and professors from the Federal University of Santa Maria, which is recognized as one of Brazil's leading public universities. The injured passengers were promptly taken to a nearby hospital in the city of Teutonia for medical treatment.
The Governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, expressed his condolences to the victims and their families, stating that the state was "in mourning" and would provide support to those affected by the accident.
