Niagara: Canada and the European Union have reiterated their unwavering support for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in the Middle East based on a two-state solution. This solution envisions two democratic states, Israel and Palestine, coexisting peacefully within secure and recognized borders, in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions. According to Emirates News Agency, the affirmation came through a joint declaration issued after the fourth Canada-European Union joint ministerial committee meeting held in Niagara. The declaration emphasized the necessity of de-escalating tensions in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and called for an end to settler violence, particularly against Christian communities. It also condemned the expansion of settlements deemed illegal under international law, Israel's military operations, and terrorist attacks against Israel. The joint statement also praised the agreement reached on the first phase of the Comprehensive Plan to end th e Gaza Conflict, proposed by President Trump, and the outcomes of the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit for Peace held on October 13, 2025. Both Canada and the EU urged all parties to fully commit to implementing all phases of the agreement and to avoid actions that might undermine it. The declaration highlighted the critical importance of resuming humanitarian access to Gaza. It called for the immediate, unimpeded delivery and sustained distribution of humanitarian aid across Gaza, facilitated through land and sea routes. Furthermore, it stressed the need for the United Nations, its agencies, and humanitarian organizations to operate independently and impartially within the region.
