Chairman of Pakistani Senate: Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with Afghan people is sign of its leading position in Islamic nation

Islamabad, Chairman of the Pakistani Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani expressed his gratitude and appreciation for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for the successive humanitarian initiatives to stand with the brotherly Afghan people under the critical humanitarian conditions it is going through.

In press remarks today, on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre’s (KSrelief) for a land bridge that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has ordered its launch to help the Afghan people, Sanjrani noted that the initiatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in its capacity as the center of the Islamic nation, represent an unprecedented gesture that will stimulate the international community to follow suit in alleviating the humanitarian crisis facing the Afghan people, where more than half of the people are suffering sharp shortages in food items.

He also noted that Saudi Arabia’s initiative to hold the 17th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of member states in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Islamabad to call on the international community to provide assistance to the Afghan people, establishment of a trust fund to raise humanitarian assistance for the Afghan people under the supervision of the Islamic Development Fund, inaugurating the air bridge allocated for delivering Saudi assistance for the Afghan people directly from Riyadh to Kabul, and the land bridge to deliver urgent relief assistance from Pakistan to Afghanistan, all represent a clear evidence of the leading position of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Islamic nation.
