Cheifs of Arab Penal Institutions Hold 21st Meeting in Tunisia

Tunis, The Council of Arab Interior Ministers held here today the 21st meeting of cheifs of Arab Penal Institutions with the participation of representatives of ministries of interior and justice in Arab states, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; Arab League; United Nations and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS).

In his speech during the opening session of the meeting, Secretary General of Arab Interior Ministers Council Dr. Mohammad bin Ali Kuman expressed pride in the performance of penal and rehabilitation institutions and their efforts in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic that placed huge responsibilities on them due to the nature of these institutions and the presence of several inmates in one limited space where it is hard to realize safety conditions and physical distancing.

The conference discussed several important issues on its agenda, including the experiences of member states in penal and rehabilitation institutions and efforts to develop them.
