BEIJING: China's 62-day summer travel season has concluded, with the railways handling 14.31 million daily average passenger trips between 1st July and 31st August, according to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. (China Railway). Xinhua news agency quoted the China Railway as saying that a record 887 million passenger trips were recorded during the same period, up 6.7 percent year-on-year. More than 14.32 million student tickets were sold during the summer travel rush. A total of 670 million tonnes of goods were also transported by railways, including 250 million tonnes of thermal coal, during the period, according to the company. Source: Emirates News Agency
