Abu Dhabi: The China International Communications Group (CICG), through its Centre for Europe and Africa, has organised the "China Today Intangible Cultural Heritages" exhibition as part of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF). This exhibition aims to underscore the significance of China's intangible cultural heritage, a crucial element of its cultural identity, while fostering cultural exchange between China and Arab nations.
According to Emirates News Agency, the exhibition showcases the beauty of Chinese cultural heritage through an array of unique cultural products. These include daily and artistic porcelain, traditional costumes crafted using cultural heritage techniques, tea products, and derivatives of traditional Chinese medicine. Additionally, the exhibition features Chinese calligraphy and jewellery known for its craftsmanship, along with a selection of creative products that represent intangible cultural heritage innovatively.
CICG was established in October 1949 and has since played a pivotal role in introducing China's development to the world and promoting international exchanges. The group publishes approximately 3,000 books and periodicals annually in over 40 languages, with its publications distributed in more than 180 countries and regions, reaching a global online audience.
The Centre for Europe and Africa, a branch of CICG, focuses on international communication with particular attention to Europe, Africa, and West Asia. It is a media complex that operates eight websites in multiple languages, including Chinese, English, French, Arabic, and German. The centre also engages in communication research, fosters international cooperation, and oversees the daily operations of its offices in the Middle East and Africa.
