Cross borer Indian firing kills 1, wounds 2 civilians in Kashmir

At least one civilian was killed while two others received injuries due to cross border firing by Indian Army into Pakistan administered Kashmir region along the Line of Control (LoC), said the military on Saturday.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan military?’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), one civilian was killed while two others were critically injured in an indiscriminate fire from Indian Army onto a group of shepherds in Sattwal Sector of Kashmir. “Indian Army, in a display of its usual inhumane approach towards innocent Kashmiris, opened fire on civilians,” said ISPR.

The statement further said that driven by “a newfound geo-political patronage, Indian forces have embarked on a plan to take innocent lives to satiate their false narratives and concocted allegations.” It said while a strong protest is being launched with the Indian side, Pakistan reserves the right to respond back in the manner of its choosing to protect Kashmiri lives in the LOC belt. The Indian side is reminded to respect basic human rights of Kashmiris, particularly, their inalienable right to till their lands, the ISPR said.

Earlier in 2021, India and Pakistan recommitted themselves to the 2003 ceasefire arrangement along the LoC and agreed to address the core issues that could undermine peace and stability. In 2020, the Indian troops committed over 3,000 ceasefire violations in which 28 people were killed, said ISPR.
