Culture, Commerce Ministries Adopt “Saudi Coffee” Name Instead of Arabic Coffee in Coffee Shops, Restaurants

Riyadh, The Ministry of Culture has announced renaming Arabic coffee to Saudi coffee in all restaurants and coffee shops of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce.

This comes as part of joint action between the two ministries to serve national targets of the “Year of Saudi Coffee” initiative and celebrate the Saudi coffee for its being a cultural element that expresses the Saudi identity and reflects Saudis’ relations with their unique coffee and the tradition of its preparation and serving.

The Ministry of Culture has already named 2022 as the “Year of Saudi Coffee” under the support of the Quality of Life Program, one of the programs of the Saudi Vision 2030, in a national initiative that seeks to celebrate the Saudi coffee through a wide pack of programs, events and competitions that the ministry and the Culinary Arts Commission will be organizing through an entire year in partnership with public, semi-public and private sector institutions, restaurants and hotels, coffee shops and roasters and individuals concerned with the Saudi coffee in terms of planting, preparing and serving coffee.
