Dubai: Dalio Philanthropies has pledged to contribute AED5 million in support of the Edge of Life campaign to rescue five million children from hunger. This initiative was launched in Ramadan by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, with a goal of raising a minimum of AED1 billion to fight childhood hunger worldwide.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dalio Philanthropies' pledge was announced during a Suhoor event organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). The event gathered philanthropic and business leaders in collaboration with Badr Jafar, Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Business and Philanthropy, at the Armani Dubai Hotel, Burj Khalifa.
Ray Dalio, Founder of Dalio Philanthropies, highlighted the campaign's mission to address the global issue of child hunger, stating, "We share the same values as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and are thankful for the opportunity to contribute to helping so many children and setting them on a better path for life."
Dalio emphasized that their contribution reflects confidence in the campaign's approach to assisting underserved communities and a commitment to its mission of protecting millions of children from acute malnutrition.
The campaign is in partnership with UNICEF, Save the Children, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Action Against Hunger. It focuses on children in vulnerable communities, especially in areas affected by natural disasters and conflicts, with alarming statistics indicating that every minute, five children under the age of 5 die from malnutrition and hunger globally.
