Abu dhabi: The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) and Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) have successfully integrated their systems to enable the licensing and classification of engineering firms and professionals to operate throughout the emirate. This move marks a significant step towards a more cohesive regulatory environment for engineering operations in Abu Dhabi.
According to Emirates News Agency, the integration addresses the previous separation where ADGM-registered organizations and individuals, including those on Al Reem Island and Al Maryah Island, followed distinct regulatory frameworks. These entities were classified as DMT-only firms, requiring an Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development license.
The new system allows ADGM-licensed companies to submit applications via the TAMM platform, adhering to the rigorous classification and registration standards employed across the emirate. This development within the DMT Classification and Engineering Professions System facilitates collaboration between free zone licensed firms and mainland-registered engineers.
Eng Abdulla Mohamed Al Blooshi, Director-General of the Urban Planning and Permits Centre at DMT, stated that the consolidated framework enhances collaboration and accelerates construction across Abu Dhabi. Real estate developers and property owners now have a wider selection of architects, project leads, and contractors, boosting competitiveness and fostering innovation in the emirate’s economic landscape. He emphasized that this integration underscores DMT’s dedication to future-ready governance, empowering businesses and establishing Abu Dhabi as a model for regulatory excellence.
Rashed Al Blooshi, CEO of the ADGM Registration Authority, expressed that this integration demonstrates ADGM’s strong alignment and cooperation with DMT to provide a unified and efficient regulatory environment across Abu Dhabi. By enabling ADGM-registered engineering firms and professionals to operate seamlessly throughout the emirate, the initiative supports enhanced market competitiveness and contributes to the sustainable growth of the construction and infrastructure sectors in Abu Dhabi.
