Dubai: DP World and Schneider Electric have entered into a strategic partnership aimed at equipping Emirati youth with essential skills in sustainability and digital technologies. The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), seeks to address the pressing need for expertise in these critical areas as the UAE continues to push forward its agenda for a sustainable future. According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed in a ceremony attended by key figures such as Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Global Chairman of Schneider Electric, and Abdulla bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director, DP World GCC. The agreement was officially inked by Maha AlQattan, Group Chief Sustainability Officer of DP World, and Amel Chadli, President of Gulf Countries at Schneider Electric. The partnership will see the launch of two innovative programs: the 'Experience Exchange' Program and the 'Future Sustainability Leaders' Program. The 'Experience Exchange Program' will facilitate knowledge sharing by allow ing three employees from each organization to work within the partner company. This initiative aims to enhance mutual understanding of sustainability practices across their respective business operations. Meanwhile, the 'Future Sustainability Leaders' Program, set to commence next year, will focus on empowering UAE fresh graduates. The program will offer industry knowledge and practical experience through a comprehensive five-month training and knowledge transfer initiative, targeting areas such as sustainability, decarbonization, and artificial intelligence. It will culminate in a one-month internship to provide hands-on experience. Maha AlQattan emphasized the importance of such partnerships in bridging the skills gap in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM). She highlighted DP World's commitment to equipping the youth with necessary tools to thrive in an evolving global landscape, especially in addressing climate change challenges. Amel Chadli echoed these sentiments, undersco ring the collaboration's alignment with the UAE's vision of fostering a sustainable economy. He noted that empowering young Emiratis is not only crucial for their personal development but also instrumental in establishing the UAE as a global leader in innovation and sustainable practices. This collaboration is an extension of Schneider Electric's efforts in the UAE, which include initiatives like the 'Tamayuz Program' designed to bolster Emirati graduates and enhance female participation in industrial sectors.
