Dubai Advances Ambitious Mobility Redesign

Dubai:Dubai is making significant strides in redefining the concept of mobility under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, with oversight from H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The city's Roads and Transport Authority, led by Mattar Al Tayer, is working towards a three-dimensional integrated transport system encompassing the sky, ground, and underground.

According to Emirates News Agency, the RTA is exploring an underground transport system to ease the movement of people, goods, and services while fostering investment and sustainable mobility. Al Tayer highlighted this during the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum, discussing the evolution of Dubai's transport system and the role of technology and AI in future mobility.

Al Tayer emphasized the need to anticipate and address future challenges in mobility. He recounted the transformation of Dubai's transport system since 2005, driven by Sheikh Mohammed's vision to establish a robust mobility infrastructure. This transformation included the launch of the Dubai Metro, which has significantly contributed to the emirate's GDP and provided substantial time and fuel savings.

The future vision for mobility in Dubai focuses on three dimensions autonomous ground-level transport, air travel with air taxis, and underground systems like the Dubai Loop and Metro Gold Line. This vision is designed to improve travel efficiency, create investment opportunities, and enhance quality of life.

Dubai's commitment to progress is evident in its response to challenges, such as launching the AED 34 billion Dubai Metro Gold Line amid geopolitical tensions. Al Tayer reiterated that Dubai's direction remains forward-focused, with AI playing a crucial role in enhancing mobility infrastructure and decision-making.
