Dubai Culture Expands Library Collections with Thai Publications Donation

Dubai:Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has enhanced the diversity of resources at Dubai Public Libraries by receiving a selection of Thai books and publications from the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai.

According to Wam, the donation aims to foster intercultural communication and strengthen knowledge exchange between the United Arab Emirates and Thailand. It enriches the collections of Dubai Public Libraries with resources that highlight Thailand's history and cultural heritage, supporting libraries as spaces for dialogue and learning within the community.

The books were presented during a ceremony at Umm Suqeim Public Library, attended by Chakri Srichawana, Consul-General of the Kingdom of Thailand in Dubai, along with representatives from the Royal Thai Consulate-General, the Thailand Foundation, and officials from Dubai Culture. The donation includes approximately 32 English-language publications on topics such as Thai culture, history, arts, and cuisine.

This initiative marks the first book donation collaboration between Dubai Culture and Thailand, reflecting a shared commitment to cooperation and cultural enrichment. The collection will be available to the public at Umm Suqeim Public Library following classification and cataloguing.

Abdulrahman Kalbat, Acting Director of the Public Libraries Department, emphasized the initiative's role in expanding cultural exchange and international partnerships. He noted it aligns with the goals of the Dubai Cultural Strategy, particularly in promoting global cultural leadership and diversity. Kalbat stated that the initiative strengthens cultural ties between the UAE and Thailand, providing opportunities to explore the rich heritage of both nations and reaffirming libraries as centers for learning and creativity.
