Dubai Maritime Authority Introduces New Regulations for Leisure Anchoring

Dubai:The Dubai Maritime Authority (DMA), part of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC), has launched a regulatory initiative to update and organize guidelines for leisure anchoring and the use of recreational mooring buoys in Dubai's waters. This initiative aims to enhance navigational safety and support the sustainable growth of the emirate's recreational marine sector.

According to Emirates News Agency, Circular No. (35) of 2026, titled "Guidelines for Leisure Anchorage and Recreational Mooring Buoys in Dubai Waters," has been announced ahead of its implementation. The circular is designed to improve safety standards, regulatory efficiency, and provide a unified framework for marine craft owners, operators, marinas, and service providers. It emphasizes safe and environmentally compliant anchoring practices.

Sheikh Dr. Saeed bin Ahmed bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, CEO of the Dubai Maritime Authority, highlighted that the initiative underscores Dubai's commitment to being a global hub for regulated marine activities. The Authority is closely monitoring compliance with these regulations to ensure adherence to navigational safety, environmental protection, and the immediate reporting of incidents.

The DMA stresses that following the initiative's guidelines is a collective responsibility, promoting a secure and sustainable marine environment while elevating Dubai's status as a top destination for recreational marine activities.
