Dubai Sports Events Calendar Approved for 2026-27 Season

Dubai:H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, has given his approval for the 2026-27 season's sporting events calendar in Dubai.

According to Emirates News Agency, during a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Sports Council, Sheikh Mansoor emphasized the importance of publicizing the numerous sporting events hosted in Dubai annually. This initiative aims to draw more sports enthusiasts to international tournaments and experience the presence of top athletes throughout the year.

The meeting also highlighted key initiatives under the 'Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033.' This plan focuses on fostering sustainable growth in the sports sector by integrating talent, clubs, community, events, infrastructure, information, and investment. Sheikh Mansoor praised the efforts of sports clubs and federations in enhancing athlete performance at local, regional, and continental levels.

Sheikh Mansoor underscored the cooperation between sports federations and clubs as vital for the sector's development and for achieving national goals. He commended the collective efforts in advancing athletes and reinforcing sports as a significant component of society.

He noted the exceptional achievements of athletes as a sign of progress, attributing these successes to the leadership's support. Sheikh Mansoor stressed the need to redouble efforts to develop a sustainable sports sector that aligns with Dubai's vision of becoming a global sports hub.

Preparations for the second edition of the World Sports Summit, scheduled for December 28-29, were reviewed. This event will gather sports icons, leaders, and decision-makers under the theme 'Uniting the World Through Sports.'

Additionally, the meeting discussed the growth of the Dubai School Games, which has seen 23,000 students from 210 schools participate in 31 sports tournaments. This initiative is key to promoting sports culture in education and discovering young talents for clubs and national teams.

Developments in the Basketball Sector Development Committee's report were also reviewed, which aims to increase the number of players, academies, and competitions in Dubai.
