CAIRO: Egypt emphasised the necessity and urgency of reaching an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensuring the full delivery of humanitarian aid to the strip, stressing that this approach is the only way to halt the regional escalation and contain attempts to widen the conflict. Egypt also stressed the need for all parties to positively engage with Egyptian, Qatari, and US mediation efforts and commit to ceasefire negotiations. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty made these remarks when he received a phone call from US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday to consult and coordinate on key developments in the region. During the phone call, the two sides reviewed the ongoing efforts to contain the current escalation in the region and work towards a ceasefire in Gaza. They discussed the outcomes of their respective communications and efforts in this regard. Moreover, the phone call also touched on the efforts to resolve the crisi s in Sudan, particularly in light of the Geneva meetings. In this regard, Abdel Atty reiterated Egypt's support for all efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Sudan to end the suffering of the Sudanese people and safeguard their lives and properties.
