Emirates and Philippine Airlines Discuss Expanded Partnership at Arabian Travel Market

Dubai: Emirates and Philippine Airlines (PAL) met at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai to explore a potential expansion of their partnership with the shared goal of offering more convenient schedules and improved services to the traveling public. The discussions centered on enhancing passenger and cargo operations, aiming to provide seamless travel experiences and improved connectivity.

According to Emirates News Agency, both airlines agreed to consider the possibility of a reciprocal code-sharing agreement on flights between the Philippines and Dubai, as well as on select routes beyond the gateways of each partner airline. This partnership could offer travelers better connectivity to new destinations beyond each airline's network, with the convenience of a single ticket, one competitive fare, and a unified baggage policy for their journeys.

Additionally, Emirates and PAL will explore opportunities to enhance their cargo interline cooperation. They plan to exchange best practices in ground handling, catering, maintenance, and technical trainings, and organize joint familiarization trips for key media and trade stakeholders. This collaboration aims to strengthen both airlines' service offerings and operational efficiencies.

The partnership between Emirates and Philippine Airlines began with an enhanced interline agreement signed in March 2023, which has been connecting travelers to ten domestic points via Cebu and Clark, as well as nine international points via Dubai. Passengers have benefited from hassle-free travel journeys across the airlines' networks, enjoying convenient baggage check-through to their final destinations.

Emirates, which launched services to Manila in 1990, has grown its operations to include a circular service to Cebu and Clark. The airline currently serves the Philippines with 28 weekly flights, offering approximately 22,700 weekly seats to and from Dubai, connecting travelers to over 140 destinations globally. Emirates recently reinforced its commitment to the Filipino market by opening its first Emirates World Store in Southeast Asia, located in Manila.
