Dubai: The Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) is preparing to make a significant impact at the World Health Expo 2026 (WHX) at Expo City Dubai. The EDE plans to introduce a range of strategic national projects aimed at enhancing drug security, upgrading the national pharmaceutical system, and fostering innovation and scientific research within the pharmaceutical sector.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event will feature the official launch of the Emirates Drug Establishment, reinforcing its pivotal role in leading and shaping the pharmaceutical and medical sectors in the UAE. This initiative aims to enhance institutional integration and align with the evolving priorities of the sector.
During the exhibition, EDE will present the Holistic National Manufacturing project, a strategic initiative focused on building a comprehensive national base for producing advanced medicines and medical products across human, veterinary, and agricultural domains. This project aims to bolster national drug security and improve the efficiency and sustainability of pharmaceutical supply chains.
The Establishment will also showcase the AI-driven drug efficacy design project, known as In Silico Medicine. This project utilizes advanced digital models to evaluate medicine effectiveness before production, thereby accelerating research timelines, reducing costs, and expediting the delivery of safe treatments to patients.
Another innovative project on display is Organ on Chip, which simulates human organ functions using micro-engineered chips for medicine testing. This technology offers accurate testing models that exceed traditional methods and adhere to high global ethical and scientific standards.
Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi, Director General of the Emirates Drug Establishment, highlighted that the projects aim to transition from traditional to innovative solutions based on scientific research and advanced science. Al Kaabi emphasized the establishment's commitment to empowering national talent and fostering scientific partnerships to solidify the UAE's position as a leading pharmaceutical hub.
The projects align with the strategic objectives of strengthening drug security, ensuring sustainable medical products, elevating national pharmaceutical standards, and enhancing domestic industry competitiveness. The strategy also emphasizes promoting research and development within the UAE and building a comprehensive health ecosystem supported by smart infrastructure.
The Emirates Drug Establishment aims to expand cooperation with local and international partners, support health innovation, and develop an advanced national pharmaceutical ecosystem that meets community needs and future requirements through its participation at WHX 2026.
