Emirates Nuclear Energy Company Unveils Strategic Rebrand for Global Clean Energy Leadership.

ABU DHABI: The Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) has launched a new brand identity that aims to reflect the company's transformation as a strategic national player for clean energy security, with plans to become a leading global nuclear energy company. The rebranding follows ENEC's transformation of the UAE power sector with a new source of clean, baseload electricity that has enhanced national energy security. According to Emirates News Agency, the rebranding also aims to reflect ENEC's role as an investor, developer, and generator of clean electricity on the global stage, focusing on growth, investment in new nuclear technologies, and partnerships with local and international high-tech companies. ENEC aims to focus on realising the full value of nuclear energy for the UAE through co-generation of heat, steam, ammonia, and hydrogen, and strategic clean energy partnerships, reinforcing the UAE's position as a global hub for nuclear energy innovation. The new identity seeks to introduce a cohesive and s treamlined brand for ENEC, aligning with its mission to drive global decarbonisation efforts. The identity also unifies the ENEC brand with its joint venture subsidiaries, with Nawah Energy Company now called ENEC Operations and Barakah One Company renamed ENEC Commercial. Mohamed Al Hammadi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ENEC, highlighted the significance of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, which now contributes 25 per cent of the UAE's electricity needs. This achievement marks the largest single decarbonisation effort in UAE history, directly reducing carbon emissions by 22.4 million tonnes annually. ENEC has built and brought online four reactors, producing 40 TWh of clean electricity annually. These accomplishments demonstrate ENEC's ability to execute large-scale nuclear projects on schedule. ENEC's rebrand comes at a time of renewed support in the global nuclear industry, with many countries and banks recognising the role nuclear energy plays in generating secure electricity. With global power demand set to double by 2050, ENEC is poised to support this growth by building a regional hub and supply chain for nuclear energy in the UAE, as well as investing and partnering in overseas projects. The four units of the Barakah Plant generate clean electricity annually, meeting 25 percent of the UAE's electricity needs and preventing 24.4 million tonnes of carbon emissions every year. The UAE is leading the way in recognising the value of nuclear energy for clean, carbon-free baseload electricity, with Abu Dhabi pioneering the inclusion of nuclear energy in its Clean Electricity Certificates program. The Barakah plant project is also the first nuclear project in the Middle East and Asia regions to achieve Green Loan Status.
