Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Eng. Abdulrahman Alfadley, the upcoming President of UNCCD COP16, met with the high-level advisory council members for COP16 to discuss the conference's preparations, which will be held in Riyadh this December. The council, composed of former President of Finland Tarja Halonen, former President of Colombia Iván Duque, former President of Senegal Macky Sall, former President of Costa Rica Carlos Alvarado, CEO of the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) Nasser Alkahtani, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Roche Holding André Hoffmann, and environmental activist Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim, also discussed mobilized international efforts to address land degradation and the drought impacts on the planet. This meeting, attended by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member, and Climate Envoy Adel Al-Jubeir, took place on the sidelines of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly high-level week in New York.
