Erdogan, Blinken talk Israeli war on Gaza, Sweden’s membership in NATO

Washington: Turkish President Tayyip Recep Erdogan and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken discussed Saturday the Israeli war on Gaza and an attempt to further lift the obstacles to Sweden’s joining NATO, according to a State Department statement and the Washington Post.

American diplomatic sources confirmed that the meeting between Erdogan and Blinken began this afternoon and was followed by a meeting between him and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan.

The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote on “X” that the meeting between Blinken and Fidan “discussed the war and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the process of Sweden joining NATO and bilateral and regional issues.”

Blinken will travel to Greece, after which he will head to Jordan.
