Estonia eager to enhance digital cooperation with UAE: Minister of Economy and Industry


DUBAI: Estonia’s Minister of Economy and Industry Erkki Keldo has affirmed Estonia’s eagerness to enhance its digital cooperation with the UAE, describing GITEX Global 2024 as a key platform to explore collaboration in various sectors, including the digital and technology fields.

In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) at GITEX Global, Keldo highlighted Estonia’s reputation for pioneering e-government solutions, developed through close cooperation between the government and competent Estonian institutions.

Keldo further emphasised that expanding UAE-Estonia cooperation in rapidly growing areas such as the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence integration, and smart city initiatives significantly contributes to advancing the global digital economy.

The Estonian Minister also announced a new collaboration between the Estonian company, Bolt, and Dubai Taxi Corporation, part of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), further reinforcing the commercial ties between the UAE and Estonia. He noted
that Estonia extensively utilises e-government systems in multiple sectors, including taxation, healthcare, and education, and aims to implement such systems in other countries, including the UAE.
