Etihad Rail Partners with Citymapper to Simplify Journey Planning in the UAE

Abu Dhabi:Etihad Rail has announced a partnership with Citymapper, its parent company Via, and United Trans to facilitate end-to-end journey planning across the UAE using the Citymapper app. This collaboration aims to make it simpler for passengers to plan their journeys across various transport modes including rail, metro, and bus services.

According to Wam, the partnership follows the recent launch of the national passenger network on September 30, with services now operational in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Dhaid, and Fujairah. As the network grows, Etihad Rail seeks to enhance the ease with which customers plan their travels to and from rail stations, making comprehensive journey planning increasingly important.

The Citymapper app will allow users to view and compare combined journey options using Etihad Rail services alongside other mobility solutions such as metro, bus, and on-demand transport. This integration complements Etihad Rail's current digital platforms, where passengers can continue to book and manage their rail journeys while using Citymapper for broader transport network planning in the UAE.

The collaboration supports the broader vision of connected mobility in the UAE, aiming to simplify travel planning and encourage more public transport use. Etihad Rail's expansion is part of the country's initiative to enhance connectivity and create new travel opportunities.

Adhraa Al Mansoori, Executive Director of Commercial and Support at Etihad Rail Mobility, emphasized the importance of providing customers with greater choice and confidence in travel planning. The partnership with Citymapper is intended to extend support beyond rail journeys, helping customers make informed travel decisions.

The integration of Etihad Rail services into Citymapper aims to reduce the complexity of journeys, improve accessibility, and promote the use of shared and public transport. Lionel Joseph, Head of Operations at United Trans, and Chris Snyder, Chief Operating Officer at Via, both highlighted the importance of collaboration in creating a more connected and intuitive transportation network in the UAE.
