Brussels: The European Commission has announced that President Ursula Von der Leyen and US President Donald Trump have agreed to expedite trade negotiations and maintain close communication following a recent phone call. According to Emirates News Agency, Commission spokesperson Paula Pinho confirmed that a negotiating team has been established, led by Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefcovic. Šefcovic held a phone conversation with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to discuss the details of the upcoming negotiations. President Trump has indicated that he will postpone his proposed 50% tariffs on the European Union until July 9, following discussions with Von der Leyen. "It's positive to see that there's engagement at the level of the presidents and from our side, we always said that we are ready to make a deal," Pinho stated.
