DUBAI: In a dramatic comeback, Iran defeated the United Arab Emirates 2-1 to book their place in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup semi-finals.
The UAE stormed out of the blocks, grabbing the lead early in the second period through a headed goal by Abdulla Abbas, assisted by Ali Mohammad. But the celebration was short-lived as Iran responded with two quick goals within minutes.
Iran now earn a date with powerhouse Brazil in the semi-final on Saturday.
