FNC and Bundestag Discuss Strengthening Parliamentary Cooperation

Arusha:Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Federal National Council's Group at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and Chairman of the Council's Defence, Interior, and Foreign Affairs Committee, met with Alexander Radwan, Head of the German parliamentary delegation and a member of the Foreign Affairs and European Union Affairs Committees of the German Bundestag. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 153rd IPU Assembly in Arusha, United Republic of Tanzania.

According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions focused on the strategic relations between the UAE and Germany. Both parties praised the outcomes of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's state visit to Germany last September, noting the significance of the UAE-German Strategic Dialogue as a framework to enhance cooperation across various fields.

The dialogue emphasized the need for parliamentary cooperation to align with the expanding strategic partnership between the two nations. Participants highlighted the role of parliamentary diplomacy in bolstering bilateral relations through committee engagement and the exchange of legislative expertise, which serves the mutual interests of both countries.

There was also an emphasis on strengthening coordination between the countries' delegations to the IPU and intensifying regional and international parliamentary forum participation. The meeting addressed developments in the Arabian Gulf region, including threats to regional security and international maritime navigation, underscoring the importance of state sovereignty, international law, and freedom of navigation.
