Baghdad, The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, announced today, Wednesday, the date of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership in its second edition, which will be held in Amman on December 20, expecting the participation of Iran and Turkey.

This came during a joint press conference with the Foreign Ministers of Jordan, Ayman Safadi, and Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, in Amman, following the tripartite meeting held within the framework of the tripartite coordination mechanism between the three countries.

The minister said, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “In the first conference in Baghdad, Turkey and Iran participated, and we expect that they will also participate in the next conference, stressing that the conference was held mainly to support Iraq and its continuity of support, and when we talk about support for Iraq and the continuity of support for Iraq by the countries that participate in this conference also means support for Iraq’s sovereignty.”

He pointed out that the great challenges facing us are challenges related to food security, drug security and energy security, and because they are challenges that transcend the borders of the country, we need regional and international relations to face these challenges.

He also indicated that there are many interventions in Iraq, and said, “In this regard, we are in continuous dialogue with these countries to solve these problems, including problems that go back to the past and problems due to the presence of some political organizations from these countries on Iraqi soil.”

He added, “We have obligations related to the Iraqi constitution not to allow any organization to use Iraqi territory to attack neighboring countries, but at the same time, no attack on Iraqi territory by neighboring countries can be accepted.”

He indicated that there is continuous communication with the two capitals (Tehran and Ankara) in order to reach solutions to protect the sovereignty of Iraq, and to prevent these organizations from carrying out operations against neighboring countries.
