GAM wins 2nd place in Islamic environmental management award

Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) won 2nd place in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Award for Environmental Management in the Islamic World (KSAAEM) for its participation in the best “Environmentally-Friendly Islamic City,” which is one of the award’s four categories. The GAM participated in the award, which was held in its third edition, in the file of the climate protection and resources project through its circular economy “Waste Segregation from the Source Project,” which was launched by GAM’s Department of Environmental Studies in 2020. The GAM’s participation file featured a detailed explanation of the project’s idea and outcomes, according to its statement. Supervised by Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), the awards were granted during the opening session of the Ninth Conference of Environment Ministers in the Islamic World, which was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on October 19.
