A delegation from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), headed by Dr. Fahad Aldossari, participated in the work of the 11th meeting of the Standing Committee for Statistical Affairs, held in Muscat, Oman. The committee aims to enhance Gulf joint statistical work, support sustainable development plans, and exchange experiences among member states. Participants discussed enhancing cooperation among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to improve statistical work and keep pace with global developments. It discussed continuous improvement mechanisms for exchanging statistical data. The committee also discussed cooperation in exchanging experiences and information, supporting programs for raising statistical awareness, and addressing common challenges. GASTAT President Aldossari highlighted the importance of relations among the GCC countries in pushing wider horizons for effective cooperation in the field of information and statistical data. He expressed his appreciation to the committee member s for their efforts in consolidating the concepts of statistical work and its role in supporting development plans and national visions for the council's countries.
