Abu Dhabi: Georgios Gerapetritis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, accompanied by Dr. Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Greek Foreign Minister and his delegation were guided by Dr. Yousef Al-Obaidli, Director General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre, during their tour of the mosque’s halls and exterior corridors. They learned about the mosque’s cultural message of coexistence, tolerance, and openness, inspired by the legacy and values of the founding father. The visit also highlighted the significant role of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Centre in promoting Islamic culture and enhancing cross-cultural communication globally.
The delegation received a briefing on the mosque’s history, architectural beauty, and the distinctive Islamic art that adorns its every corner. They explored the mosque’s unique collections and the finest examples of Islamic civilization, where various artistic and architectural designs have harmoniously converged, creating a masterpiece that reflects cultural unity.
On the sidelines of the visit, the Greek Top Diplomat remarked on the honor of visiting the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, describing it as a global beacon embodying values of tolerance and coexistence among cultures. He emphasized that the mosque is not just a place of worship but a symbol of human unity and interfaith harmony, reinforcing the message that all people share a common essence and should work together to foster peace and achieve prosperity.
At the conclusion of the visit, the mosque presented the guest with a gift reflecting its beauty-a compass inspired by its chandeliers-and a copy of the book “Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: Lights of Peace”. This publication highlights the mosque’s unique architectural style and provides a visual journey into its grandeur, featuring award-winning images from the ‘Spaces of Light’ Award.
