Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, met with Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, during the World Governments Summit 2026 in Dubai.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting took place on the third day of the summit and was attended by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai. Discussions centered on enhancing cooperation between the UAE and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, particularly in the areas of economy, investment, and development.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed emphasized the UAE's commitment to deepening ties with the Kurdistan Region. He noted the significance of broadening cooperation, fostering partnerships between public and private sectors, and seizing opportunities to support mutual development and prosperity.
Masrour Barzani expressed gratitude to the UAE for organizing the World Governments Summit, commending its role as a global platform for dialogue and the sharing of government expertise. He reiterated the Kurdistan government's eagerness to strengthen relations with the UAE and to learn from its experiences in economic development, governance, and future readiness.
The meeting was also attended by several key figures, including Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; Sultan Al Mansoori, Chairman of Dubai Chambers; Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA); Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary-General of The Executive Council of Dubai; and Hesham Abdulla Al Qassim, Chief Executive Officer of Wasl Asset Management Group.
