Stockholm: Hungarian author László Krasznahorkai has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for 2025 by the Swedish Academy. According to Emirates News Agency, Mats Malm, the Permanent Secretary of the Swedish Academy, made the announcement during a press conference in Stockholm. The Academy praised Krasznahorkai as a “great epic writer” within the Central European tradition, linking his work to literary figures such as Kafka and Thomas Bernhard. His writing is noted for its elements of absurdism and grotesque excess.
The Nobel Prize in Literature, which includes a monetary award of 11 million Swedish crowns (approximately $1.2 million), highlights Krasznahorkai’s significant contributions to the literary world.
