Hussain Dawood Donates AED5 Million to Edge of Life Campaign for Childhood Hunger Relief

Riyadh: Hussain Dawood, Chairperson of Engro Corporation and the Dawood Foundation, has announced a contribution of AED5 million to the Edge of Life campaign. This initiative, launched during Ramadan by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, aims to rescue five million children from hunger by raising a minimum of AED1 billion to combat childhood hunger globally.

According to Emirates News Agency, Hussain Dawood’s contribution was revealed at a Suhoor event organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) at the Armani Dubai Hotel, Burj Khalifa. The event gathered leaders in philanthropy and business, in collaboration with Badr Jafar, Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Business and Philanthropy.

Hussain Dawood expressed that the AED5 million contribution is motivated by his commitment to supporting humanitarian initiatives that focus on human dignity and child health. He highlighted the UAE’s humanitarian efforts as a model of international solidarity and emphasized the importance of global efforts in addressing childhood hunger and malnutrition.

The Edge of Life campaign, organized in partnership with UNICEF, Save the Children, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Action Against Hunger, targets children in the most vulnerable communities worldwide, especially those affected by natural disasters and conflicts. Statistics indicate that every minute, five children under the age of 5 die due to malnutrition and hunger.

The campaign continues to accept donations through multiple channels, including its website (www.edgeoflife.ae), a toll-free number (800 4999), and bank transfers to its Emirates Islamic Bank account (IBAN: AE940340003708472909222).
