Iconic Miniature Qur’an to be Showcased at Abu Dhabi International Book Fair

Abu dhabi: World-leading rare book dealers Peter Harrington will present an iconic copy of David Bryce's celebrated miniature Qur'an at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. This edition is known as one of the most significant miniature books ever produced.

According to Emirates News Agency, the miniature Qur'an was printed in Glasgow in the late 1890s and is recognized as the earliest European-printed edition of the Qur'an in a miniature format. David Bryce, the creator, aimed the miniature Qur'ans at Muslim readers in Europe, the Indian subcontinent, East Africa, and the Middle East.

The initial sale included a protective metal locket with an inset magnifying lens, combining technical achievement with commercial success. Earlier versions of miniature Qur'ans had been lithographed in India and the Ottoman Empire, but Bryce's edition gained unmatched popularity.

The Qur'an measures 26 * 19 mm and is photolithographed in Arabic. It retains its original red leather binding with gilt decoration and comes in its original metal locket, reflecting the format in which these miniature books were first issued.

Peter Harrington is offering this remarkable miniature Qur'an for £2,750 at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.
