IMSIU Students Present Paper at 10th IEEE Conference in Oregon, USA

Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU) has participated with a paper in the 10th Annual IEEE Conference on Technologies for Sustainability, held in Oregon, US.

Under the supervision of Dr. Walid Al-Fraidi from the Department of Electrical Engineering, students Abdullah Al-Haqbani and Saleh Al-Badaily of the College of Engineering at IMSIU presented a paper titled “Sustainability on a University Campus Considering Recent Energy Efficiency Initiative in Saudi Arabia”.

The paper measured the energy sustainability on a university campus based on an optimization mathematical model, considering recent energy efficiency initiative in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. IMSIU campus, with an annual demand of 48 MW, was taken as a case study for the paper. Simulated results demonstrated that the energy efficiency initiative reduces the installed capacity of photovoltaic generation by 30% while the energy level remained the same at the IMSIU campus.
