India Steps Up Vigilance Amid Global Mpox Outbreak

Indian authorities have ramped up security measures at airports, seaports, and border crossings with Bangladesh and Pakistan following the World Health Organization's warning about the recent surge in monkeypox cases, declaring it a global health emergency. As reported by India TV, the government announced today that three central hospitals in the country would serve as isolation facilities in the event of a confirmed case. While India has not reported any cases of mpox to date, surveillance measures have been put in place to ensure prompt detection and response. Monkeypox, a viral disease commonly found in the tropical rainforests of Central and West Africa, spreads through close contact with an infected person, animal, or contaminated items.
